The reel for the specialist big fish angler. This reel has been adopted by the big fish angler that needs enormous line capacity, for both long distance casting and hard running specimens. Carp, catfish and pike, plus the more exotic species like mahseer, tarpon and permit have all been tamed by anglers using the SS3000. No other reel can boast the technical innovations. Extra long anodised aluminium spool, worm drive for perfect lay, with a 35mm long stroke mechanism. The spool has a taper of 3° guaranteeing extra-long trouble free casts. The drag system is mounted on the spool front, and is coil spring loaded, allowing minute adjustments to be made. The settings run from virtual free spool for "Bite & Run" fishing, to solid, for casting security. Daiwa's patented "Line Guard" system prevents back spool tangles and a free-running ceramic line roller ensures long line life. No less than five stainless steel ball bearings ensure ultra smooth winding power, meaning more fish on the bank, quicker!

The Daiwa Quick Drag is a great new bait runner type free run spool.  The drag nut is designed with a very short range, so to set minimum to maximum very quickly.  The spool also features a line clip and an isotope/chemical light holder that will instantly visually register which rod you have a take on at night.
